BlackBerry Bold 9700 series or better known as BlackBerry Onyx is arguably the most anticipated gadget at the end of 2009. Without a track ball, wrapped in leather, and has brought 3G and HSDPA connectivity, making the Onyx is championed as a strong competitor in the premium class smart phone line.

Design

From the outside view, Onyx does look elegant. Wrapped in dark chrome and rear wrapped synthetic leather makes this smartphone looks luxurious. The presence of skin material on the latter also makes the phone comfortable grip.
Onyx has the dimensions 4.29 x 2.36 x 0.56 inch. When juxtaposed with the BlackBerry Javelin both look similar. It's just a little thicker with the Onyx weighs 122 grams. Not fat and wide as the Bold 9000 series.

Trackpad

BlackBerry Onyx is the second, which uses the trackpad. The decision is arguably appropriate. Many BlackBerry users complained about the ability of the trackball. When the hand sweating, it becomes slick navigation tool. As result, it difficult to operate.

Well, this is what RIM wants solved. Indeed, the overall ability of Onyx, trackpad became one of the reliability of this phone is the most preferred. No need to move the redundant thumb, enough to move with a delicate touch. Very responsive!

Keypad

BlackBerry Onyx still using the keypad buttons are similar to the Bold 9000. Size is quite wide and padded, so it can be recommended for those with big thumbs. Also the keypad on Onyx also not noisy, not found print-shallow sound when we are busy typing.

But there is a little discomfort when you are using this keypad long enough. This keypad will feel slightly sticky. Whether because of what it does could be due to sweat or does the material in a less friendly keypad.

Picture and Sound

Onyx has a 2.44 inch TFT LCD screen with 480x360 pixels. With the embedded processor 624 MHz, making this phone the ability to run a video in quite qualified. The result is fairly smooth.

As for sound issued can also be relied upon. When pitted against the Javelin for example, in the same demo that plays music, sound Onyx made a little more bass. As for the sound quality, similar to Javelin and the Bold 9000.

Camera and Battery

For the camera, Onyx is equipped with 3.2 mega pixel camera with auto focus, image stabilization, flash and 2X digital zoom. When tested, the results achieved fairly standard picture. If the object moves slightly, opaque results will be obtained.

As for battery capabilities, Onyx is very reliable. 1500 mAh battery that can be used to make buffs last longer than the BlackBerry Javelin and Bold 9000.

For the gadget enthusiast and desperately need the handheld in any job, Onyx deserve to have. This series is a member of the revision of the BlackBerry Bold 9000. Starting from physical form to be minimized, battery capacity, ease of navigation through the trackpad to be more elegant design superiority.

Even so, it does not mean this phone is flawless. One of the unfortunate is related to the lack of innovation in the Onyx features. As a result, the difference with the Curve 9000 is more than the physical appearance, while the interior is pretty much the same.

But everything is handed back to you as a user. Interested to buy a BlackBerry Onyx?
